Your design challenge will be to use what you know about 2Ds shapes to create a cityscape. You need to use shapes like trapezoids, parallelograms, hexagons, squares, rectangles, and triangles. Here are some great examples to help you get started. Click on smaller image to see it up close.
Learning Goal: Use elements of design - symmetrical shapes and forms in the human-made environment - to show what you know about art techniques.
Fore, Middle and Background
Artists can create an illusion of space by using this technique. Fore ground is the area of the painting that looks closest to the person looking at it. The middle ground is the body of the painting that attracts the viewer's eye. The background is the area that appears to be far away.
