St. Kateri Tekakwitha
Great work these last few weeks helping with the preparation for the canonization celebration boys and girls. Thanks to our community, the day was a great success. If you'd like to see some pictures, click here.
Virtue of the Month: Hospitality
We have been learning about what it means to be good Catholic community members. We learn from God's teachings that we have a responsibility to be welcoming to, and caring with, everyone. Our chance to read Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, and The Upside Down Boy by Juan Felipe Herrera, have helped us share ways in which to show hospitality to all.
Virtue of the Month: Peace
During the month of November, we explored the Seven Teachings and considered their connection to the virtue of peace. Our cross-curricular peace poster project applied what we learned about being peacemakers and media literacy to design posters that promoted the idea of peace in our communitites.
Virtue of the Month: Charity
In December, we will be exploring both the Advent season and the virtue of charity. We will begin our exploration of charity by designing a class-generated popplet about what we know about charity.
Cross Curricular Activity: Let's see if we can make wise inferences about this passage. Can we add anything to our mind map?
Virtue of the Month: Courage
"Do not fear, for I am with you." Isaiah 41:10
What do you think it means to have courage? Is courage a choice? Look at the wordle below and see if the words help you think of courage.

Great work with our brainstorm yesterday. Here is a picture of our own wordle about courage:
How did Jesus show courage?
How do these people show courage?
How about them?
Fantastic brainstorm and discussion today, below is a popplet of our work!
Connection to Language: The Empty pot
The Empty Pot by Demi is a story of courage when a boy faces a difficult decision. As we listen to the story, think about a time when you had to face a difficult decision. Can you make a connection to Ping's story? How does your connection help you infer about how Ping could have felt when making the decision?
Virtue of the Month: Love
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son."
John 3:16
John 3:16
Let's take a look at this story about love. How does the main character show love?
Martin Luther King's message was clear: spread love and not hate! Our Lent link up activity was one way we can share ideas about our love for God and Jesus. Our skits can also show what we have learned about how to help Martin's dream and God's Vision for us to come true. Here is a part of his speech.
Virtue of the Month: Forgiveness
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you."
Ephesians 4:32
Ephesians 4:32
Our group activity to practice retelling a story helps us learn more about the power of forgiveness. Even though it's not always easy to forgive, we learned that it can be very powerful. It takes courage and love to forgive, so we see that our Catholic virtues work together to help us grow. Click the picture of the book above if you'd like to learn more about this story.
Great work building our Forgiveness Tagxedo today. We shared some wonderful ideas about our virtue of the month, and it looks pretty cool too! Make sure you share this with your family!

Virtue of the Month: Justice
“If you want peace, work for justice” - Henry Louis Mencken
Virtue of the Month: Compassion
"Jesus saw her weeping…his heart was touched, and he was deeply moved." John 11:33
We have learned that compassion means caring and taking action in times of need. The compassion we show during these times is not limited to people only. Take a look at the story we will be reading to consider this idea.
What can we learn about showing compassion for God's creations from this story?
